Almost every other month a major website announces that their user database has been hacked. As Lifehacker pointed out, KeePass would have helped you keep relatively safe in case of websites getting their user info stolen. Composite key was always the Master Password. Never set it up with a Window User Account and never used a key file. I created a new database file. I emailed to my work computer my original database along with the test database. I was able to open the test database but not my original one. At this point, I have come to acceptance over my situation. Another is to use a key file for your KeePass database. Of course, this only makes sense if you don’t store the key file on your cloud drive; you have to copy it manually to your phone. Another option, one that Keepass2Android supports, is to store the key file on a second cloud drive on which you (I hope) use another password. Another option is to use your computers login account in place of the authentication. I do not recommend this approach due to the extra risks involved. In addition to the default settings I recommend making the KeePass database stronger by using the key transformation options. The server that runs on the computer sends a public key to the app on the phone. That key is used to encrypt the password. Problem: The app blindly accepts the public key. I am currently using Dashlane and I have been suggested to switch to KeePass. I am looking for a way to have KeePass (or another of its similar free projects) on Android, with autofilling activated, on Windows and also a browser extension that would autofill passwords and forms. All of that synced through OneDrive (that's the cloud service I use). Keepass databases are stored in files. Depending on how your database is protected (password, key file or both), you could need your key file as well, but you can always open that file on several machines.
